What is Group Focused Therapy?

Group focused therapy is a form of counselling or group psychotherapy sessions.People come together in a small group to talk about what they are going through. Under the guidance of our group therapists, participants have a safe space. They share their thoughts, listen to others, and realize this is not an alien thought.

At our F.R.O.M pain relief clinic, we bring together clients from the Greater Toronto Area for meet-up-like sessions at our North York and Downtown offices. They may be dealing with similar emotional struggles or life challenges. These sessions are covered by OHIP and guided by trained therapists. It focuses on creating a supportive environment where conversation flows naturally and promotes healing.

    Group Psychotherapy Session Benefit

How Can a Group Psychotherapy Session Benefit Individuals?

Many people struggle with feelings such as anxiety, stress, grief, loss, trauma, depression, or sadness. In a group program, mindfulness-based therapy aids individuals in easily opening up and expressing emotions. It helps individuals to build empathy by listening to others’ personal stories and gaining new perspectives.

Over time, members often build genuine connections. They become an important source of encouragement for each other.

By joining talk therapy in Toronto, people build a more positive outlook on life. They feel more connected with others. Many participants find comfort in knowing that others truly understand what they are going through.

How Our Group Psychotherapy Sessions Work?

Initial Assessment: We start the process at our psychotherapy clinic in Toronto with an assessment by a Psychiatrist or Physiatrist. We determine whether group psychotherapy is the right option for you.

Group Placement: If we find it is suitable, we will place the patient into particular groups based on their presentation. We try to keep groups with patients who are similar in their challenges and who can support each other in their rehabilitation.

Supportive Group Sessions: After that, you can join regular group therapy sessions with others. You will find your peers who are experiencing thought patterns or emotional struggles.

OHIP-Covered Rehabilitation Classes: The program also includes six OHIP-covered group sessions. These mindfulness practice classes focus on helping participants improve their mindset, develop coping skills, and gradually regain confidence in their daily lives.
