Knee Pain

Knee pain is caused by damage or issues to tissues both inside the knee and outside the knee joint. Inside the knee joint, stability is determined by the shape and health of your cartilage, also known as your meniscus, in addition to the ligaments supporting the knee – the ACL, PCL and LCL. Outside the knee joint, stability is provided by the muscles surrounding the knee and the MCL. The kneecap is a largely complicating factor, often out of position and causing pain and irritation to the surrounding tissues. Common signs of knee pain or injury include knee swelling, weakness or giving way, clicking or locking.

Neck Pain

Neck pain, sometimes called cervicalgia, is a pain in or around your spine beneath your head. It may radiate to the shoulders, head, or even hands, limiting movement. You might have axial neck pain (felt primarily in your neck) or radicular neck pain (pain that shoots into other areas, such as your armpit, shoulders, arms, or hands). The force placed on your neck’s nerves, ligaments, joints, discs and muscles causes stress and dysfunction. Pain can build up suddenly or gradually over time, leading to a headache. Common signs of headache include difficulty focusing the eyes or loss of concentration, achy temples, and a top and base of the skull. You might feel back pain, a heaviness in your back, difficulty bending, sitting, lifting or twisting, or even numbness and/or weakness in your legs. Treatment at F.R.O.M. Similar to the hand, the ankle comprises several bones arranged in layers to provide stability close to your leg and mobility in your toes and forefoot. You may have difficulty walking or bending/flexing your ankle, swollen ankles, weak ankles or loss of range of motion. Your mandible, or jaw bone, connects to your skull in a combination of 2 joints. Because of its location, TMJ pain can cause ear pain, headaches, facial pain, neck and shoulder pain, difficulty eating, nausea and dizziness. Common signs of TMJ-related pain include jaw pain, difficulty opening and closing your mouth, difficulty chewing and or clicking or feelings of instability or tightness in your jaw. TMJ treatment varies from person to person and may include manual therapy to reset disc issues, shockwave to flatten scar tissue and muscle spasms, manual therapy to address headaches, physical therapy, custom mouth guards and jaw surgery.
