Meet Our Team

Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Dr. Ali D. Kanji, DPT

Originally from Toronto, Canada, Dr. Kanji completed his Bachelor’s in Neuroscience at the University of Toronto, where he was recognized in 2004 as one of the Top 40 Minds of the Past 40 Years. Dr. Kanji obtained his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Daemen College in Buffalo, NY, before finishing post-doctoral studies and clinical training at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

Post-graduation, Dr. Kanji teamed up with key staff and established Baltimore Orthopedics & Rehabilitation, the State of Maryland’s largest privately owned Rehabilitation Agency.

As Clinical Director and Founding Partner of F.R.O.M. Toronto Pain Relief Clinic, Dr. Kanji’s long-term ambition and vision is to enhance access to rehabilitation services and create a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to care through a unique rehabilitation-based system.

Early on, Dr. Ali D. Kanji realized that the combination and co-location of services acted synergistically to improve patient care, outcomes, and prognosis while reducing healthcare costs, and was pleased to act as Aga Khan Health Services East African Regional Rehabilitation Director from 2019-2021.

Director of Chiropractic Services and Chiropractor

Dr. Raheema Kanji-Naran, BSc, DC

Dr. Raheema Kanji-Naran is a chiropractic and healthcare leader with extensive experience in managing healthcare teams and treating patients in various settings. Dr. Kanji-Naran graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College after earning a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from Queen’s University. 

In 2023, she received her Artificial Intelligence (AI) certification for Clinician Champions, Accelerating AI in Healthcare. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Kanji-Naran has successfully treated various neuromusculoskeletal conditions, including sports, motor vehicle accidents, and workplace injuries. Dr. Kanji-Naran is a member of the College of Chiropractors of Ontario (CCO), the Ontario Chiropractic Association (OCA), the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA), and the Canadian Chiropractic Protective Association (CCPA).

Director of Mental and Behavioral Health

Dr. Diamond M. Kanji, MD

Dr. Diamond M. Kanji, MD, was born in Tanzania, East Africa. He graduated from Medical School at Makere University in Uganda and completed his residency and specialist training at the University of Toronto in Canada. 

Dr. Diamond Kanji became Canada’s first psychiatrist of Southeast Asian descent in the mid-1970s, and since then, he has been providing psychiatric and mental health care in the Greater Toronto Area to patients in need and providing direct clinical supervision and oversight for psychotherapists and psychologists.  

Dr. Kanji’s specific areas of interest include stress and trauma management, ADD/ADHD assessment and management, medication and case management. Dr. Kanji is proud to join the F.R.O.M. Toronto Pain Relief Clinic Team as the Medical Director for Mental Health.

Director of Occupational Therapy

Famida Kanji, MSc.OTR/L

Famida Kanji, MSc., OTR/L was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree at York University and her Master’s in Occupational Therapy at D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY. She completed her clinical training at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland in 2006 and worked with Dr. Ali D. Kanji to build and run Maryland’s largest rehabilitation Agency from 2009-2019. 

Famida’s special training includes multidisciplinary Independent Medical Exams (IME’s), allowing our patients to receive integrative care. 

Famida is pleased to join the F.R.O.M. Toronto Pain Relief Clinic as a Supervising Occupational Therapist and is looking forward to bringing her extensive experience coordinating both physical and psychological rehabilitation for patients suffering from trauma or other life-altering circumstances to the team.
