About Our Assistive Devices Program (ADP)

Are you living with an injury or disability that restricts your daily life? Our Assistive Devices Program (ADP), covered by OHIP, is for you!

We will find you practical solutions with assistive technology. This program is designed to make daily life easier and more comfortable for residents across the Greater Toronto Area.

We provide assistive device consultations where we take the time to understand your needs, mobility challenges, and lifestyle. So that we can help you find the right tools and equipment.

A big part of our program is education about assistive technology, as many people are not aware of the tools that are available to help with the condition.

We also provide support for orthotic rehabilitation, helping patients who may benefit from braces, orthotics, or supportive devices.

Most importantly, our assistive devices clinic in Toronto guides patients with assistive devices that are tailored to their individual needs.

    Frequently Asked Questions

The Assistive Devices Program (ADP) helps people with long-term physical disabilities get access to equipment that supports mobility and daily activities. The program may help cover part of the cost of approved devices such as walkers, wheelchairs, orthotics, or pressure stockings.

Assistive devices are designed to make everyday activities easier and safer for people with injuries, disabilities, or mobility limitations. They help improve independence, support movement, reduce pain or strain, and make daily life more comfortable.

The process usually begins with an assessment by a qualified healthcare professional. After evaluating your needs, the appropriate device is recommended, and the application for the program can be completed if you qualify.

Some of the most common assistive devices include canes, crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, orthotics, and pressure stockings. These devices help support mobility, balance, and physical comfort.

In many cases, a referral from your family doctor or specialist may be required, depending on the type of device or service. Our clinic can guide you on whether a referral is needed before your appointment.

You first need an assessment from an authorized healthcare provider who can determine the type of device you need. If you meet the eligibility criteria, the provider will help complete the ADP application process.

Appointment availability in our clinic may vary, but we try to offer same-week or next-week consultations whenever possible. You can contact the clinic directly to check the earliest available appointment time.
